Our Toddler Program
Our toddlers enjoy a variety of age-appropriate activities. We stress the development of socially acceptable behavioral skills to enable your toddler to become age-appropriately independent (self-help skills.) For example, the children practice proper table manners, bathroom skills and cleanliness (blowing their own nose, washing their hands,) and they learn how to get along with one another. We encourage our toddlers to problem-solve by hearing and listening to each others’ words. We stress location-appropriate behavior. For example, in the library we use our quiet inside voices as opposed to our outside voices; in the lunch room we learn to pour milk on our cereal and to empty garbage into the trash can. While the children are dressing to go outside, they have fun socializing, doing for themselves and not waiting to be waited on. Verbal expression is vital in helping your toddler better understand his or her emotions and feelings. We encourage children to use "their words" to express themselves. Of course, children understand these ideas best when they are performed on a regular basis; they are best accepted when the lessons are reinforced with encouragement and guidance at home. Each week our toddlers' activities are guided by a lesson plan and each plan has a unique theme. Take a look at one of our Monday -Thursday toddler Lesson Plans. |
